Alcohol becomes a crutch. Alcohol and/or drugs become a false source of strength for individuals too weak in character to see that there is no real intelligence there. These persons possess a need to escape things interpreted by them as being a source of stress.

Belief is important to master anything. Belief starts when you discover there is something valuable about life, about your life.

In these character abuses, a local branch of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or its drug abuse or physical abuse equivalent can be of great help in turning one's life toward one of increasing value.
